Passed Ball..Passed Ball...Passed Ball..
Let me start off with this. Bronson Arroyo threw eight innings of one-hit ball. 4-0. The man is 4-0.
Now, Wakefield. Wakefield. Eek. In the first, he threw a 77-mph fastball that turned into a 3-run HR. It's starting to feel like every game that Tim Wakefield pitches is one for the L column. That should not be. It just should not be.
So, we lost this one 7-1. Wake is 1-4 now after giving up 3 earned runs and only striking out 3. He only lasted 5 2/3 innings. Why did they trade Bronson?
I know it really isn't Bard's fault, but I'm getting pretty fed up with all these passed balls. 10 so far this year, FOUR in this game alone. And more than one run scored because of it. I agree, trading Mirabelli was a great move!
So Lowell was up with 2 men on, and as soon as he hit an out ball, you could distinctly hear an, "Oh, f--k!" Way to keep me amused! Of course, he was probably thinking that Pena was up after him and he just ruined the only chance they had of scoring. But seriously, when the only run scored all night was a Wily Mo homerun, you know things are in bad shape.
I just can't get on board with the bottom part of the order. Pena, Mohr, Bard, Gonzalez. That just doesn't look impressive. It doesn't look like the Red Sox. Here's the lineup that I miss:
Damon
Renteria
Ortiz
Manny
Nixon
Varitek
Mueller
Millar
Bellhorn
Now that is a Red Sox lineup. Don't even try to tell me Pena/Mohr/Bard/Gonz looks better than that!
