Time for Beckett to Shine

Man, the Sox got roughed up last night. Wakefield did not, as I suggested, feed off of Schilling's awesomeness. In fact, he did quite the opposite. His struggles against the Rangers continued, as he gave up 7 runs in 3 2/3 innings. That, my friends, is not good.

But wait! There is good news! The Yankees lost, too.

Let's dissect this game. Josh Bard had 3 passed balls, which probably isn't too bad for someone who isn't used to the knuckleball. The Sox faced Vicente Padilla, who had his first AL game and to whom the Red Sox are not accustomed to. He left the game with only 1 ER through 6 innings, so the man had a good night. And Manny was 0-for-4 with THREE strikeouts. When Manny is 0-for, you know it's not a good night.

But Josh Beckett makes his real debut for the Sox tonight, at 8. Let's hope he pulls a Schilling, and not a Wakefield.
