Wakefield Gets No Support
Wakefield pitched, so you have to assume some balls went out of the park. And Carlos Guillen hit a 2-run HR in the 4th to put Detroit up 3-1.
I was dividing my time between this game and the Women's College World Series (I hate UCLA for taking out Cat Osterman and Texas. That leaves only Tennessee for me to cheer for now.), and every time I checked to see what the Sox were doing, I was disappointed. Until I saw an Alex Cora triple! Didn't see that one coming. Crisp RBIed him, but no further scoring would happen for the Sox.
But that doesn't mean Detroit didn't score more. Tavarez came in in the 8th and gave up a 3-run homerun to the first batter he faced. Lost 6-2. No run support for Wake, AGAIN. Not a good one, folks.
