Beckett Gave Up 3 Solo HRs in the Loss

Scott Kazmir pretty much owned the Red Sox last night. Kapler made a nice catch that my Yankee-loving father and Cubs-loving uncle didn't think was too impressive, but it surely was.

And since the 3-0 loss isn't very good news, let's move on to something better.

The All-Star team was announced a couple days ago, and 4 Boston players made the cut. Ramirez, Ortiz, Loretta, and Papelbon will be representing the good guys come Tuesday. Varitek was outvoted at the last minute in favor of Pudge Rodriguez and Joe Mauer. Francona has asked Manny not to go, as he is nursing a sore knee and it might be in the best interest of the team to have him sit out. It's not like he'll be playing 9 innings, maybe they could only play him for a few then be done.


Tonight, Schilling goes against Casey Fossum, who is currently 3-3 with a 5.03 ERA. This bodes well.

And in sad news, looks like Foulke isn't any closer to making his return. And David Wells? He "doesn't feel very good." Clement will be pitching for Class A Fort Myers and Francona said if things go well, he'll need about 3 starts before he can come back.
