The Event of Homeruns

Last night was the Homerun Derby, Red Sox style. 8 runs off of 5 homeruns from 5 different men. Ortiz, the Gonz, Varitek, Youkilis, and Ramirez all hit the long ball during the game. Crazy.

Kyle Snyder pitched 5 good innings and gave up 2 runs. Hansen pitched 1.2 innings and let Seattle double their score. Delcarmen came in to take care of it, and pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. Timlin pitched the 9th for the second time this week.

Bases were loaded for the Sox in the 9th with 2 outs, but the Gonz already had his RBI for the day and made the last out. All in all, a pretty good game. After all, when you have 5 HRs hit by 5 different players, the game can't very well be bad!

By the way, Shea Hillenbrand is off to San Francisco. Kason Gabbard will be pitching for the Sox today, and here is some information I have on him: Pick No. 872 overall by Boston in the 2000 First-Year Player Draft. 9-2 with a 2.57 ERA for Double-A Portland before moving to Triple-A Pawtucket on June 27, where he posted a 1-3 record and a 4.97 ERA in five starts.

Willie Harris, previously DFA, accepted an assignment to Pawtucket! So he's still in the system, which is good because I liked him and so did many of the Sox players, apparently.
