Oh We Got Us a Fight!

Hey, some scoring went down last night in our favor! Mike Lowell RBI-doubled after Manny hit a double, then Ortiz tripled to score 2 runs. Manny singled after that to score Ortiz, then Trot Nixon singled and Lowell SFed to score Ramirez.

2 errors in the 7th allowed Lowell to score on a single from Cora. Ortiz hit his 32nd homerun of the year in the 8th inning for the 7th run of the night.

Pitching-wise, it was a fantastic night. Schilling racked up his 11th win, going 7 innings and only allowing 2 hits. Delcarmen and Hansen each pitched one inning. Each reliever allowed 1 hit and no runs. Finally, a good win for the Sox: 7-0!

But the most exciting part of the evening was a bit of a fight going on between the Sox and the A's and the A's and the fans. We got some hit batsmen! Here's how it's been going down:

Friday night: Barry Zito hit David Ortiz. Craig Breslow retaliates by trying to hit Mark Kotsay. He couldn't do it, so he hit Frank Thomas in the thigh.

Saturday night: Dan Haren hit Varitek in the BACK of the leg. Hmm, that seems pretty far from the strike zone! Haren said, "I was trying to go [inside]. Not necessarily hit him, but I was definitely trying to go in." That got Schilling pretty mad, so he hit Nick Swisher in the ribs. Swisher was quite angry, saying, "You know it was on purpose. Everybody in the [expletive] stadium knew it was on purpose. I didn't think anything was going on for the first two pitches, then all of a sudden I catch one in the [expletive] ribs. The guy's been hitting his spots all night. If you don't think that's on purpose, you're crazy." Then Milton Bradley started fighting with the fans, exchanging some pretty nasty words I presume.

And it's not over, apparently. "We'll just see what happens [today]," Swisher said.

Really, when you hit David Ortiz, you better know something's going to happen.
