9th Inning Disaster

Delcarmen came in after Beckett pitched six (and gave up 3 runs), and I was really hoping he'd do well since all I've been saying is "Put in Delcarmen!" He got 2 outs and had men on 2nd and 3rd before Timlin came in. Since he didn't give up a HR, I consider his outing a success.

Timlin pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, and Papelbon came in to pitch the 9th in a tight 4-3 game. And...he gave up a triple right away. What's going on with him lately? Maybe Steinbrenner put something in his food.

Anyway, tonight it wasn't Seanez that had a blown save, nor was it Tavarez, not even Hansen. No, tonight it was Papelbon. He gave up 2 runs in the 9th to allow Kansas City, the worst team in baseball, to beat us for the second night in a row. I'm not too worried about Papelbon yet, mostly because he's been so incredible and I don't want to start the panic towards the the end of the season. I just hope they win tonight, because being swept by KC is just about the worst thing ever. Plus, Boston is 3 games behind NY, so losing games is really not an option anymore.
