Ummm...what?
I think Francona summed up the past 3 games nicely:"[Pitching]'s about all I think about because if you don't pitch, obviously it makes your day a lot rougher. We've found that out the last two days."
All I have to say is...What? What happened? Why did this hap--oh! PITCHING! When the Sox were focusing on upgrading the defense, they kind of forgot that a good defense doesn't matter if the pitching is horrendous.
I bring some good news. Rudy Seanez has been designated for assignment! I tried very hard not to dislike him, but he made it rather difficult. Francona had this to say, which I cannot agree with, "I actually don't think he threw as bad as maybe people thought he did. I know he wasn't very well received here all the time, which I didn't appreciate. We didn't quite ever get him to the point where he was the dominant guy we were looking for maybe that month or six weeks."Dear Terry,
You don't think he threw as bad..? Have you gone mad? In order to be well received, you better play well, and that man just did not have it. You don't appreciate it, and I don't appreciate you keeping pitchers in WAY too long.
What was up with Beckett today? As you (may) know, I took the MCAT today and missed all 3 games (blessing in disguise?) so I only heard about all of the awful pitching. Josh Beckett walked NINE people? I won't criticize, he did it nicely himself: "It's unacceptable," said Beckett, who lasted 5 2/3 innings. "This all falls squarely on my shoulders. I know our bullpen is tired, and for me to make them go into the well in the sixth inning again is just unacceptable."
What are the chances of getting Jered Weaver?! ...No?It's all up to Schilling. We kind of have to win these next 2 games. It's really sad, and even more embarrassing. I have a tennis match tomorrow against a Yankee fan, this is going to be ugly.
But Juan Carlos Ferrero totally beat Nadal the other day. My favorite player beat NADAL. Something to be excited about, at least.
