Trot Nixon
I have mentioned before how if I had to pick a favorite Red Sox player, I would say Trot Nixon. I realize that saying this means he will probably not be in a Boston jersey next year, but I am making a plea to Theo to KEEP TROT.
At Fenway, Nixon owns right field. It'll take someone else (presumably Pena) a while to learn the area, plus Wily Mo is not too adept at the simple task of catching balls yet. I fear losing Nixon will cause that defensive prowess that Epstein built this past year to be diminished dramatically. Think about how many errors (some weren't scored as errors, but we all saw the mistakes) Wily Mo made recently, and he was only out there a few times. I'm not trying to tear Pena down, I just think he needs more time to hone his skill before he takes over for the Incredible Leaping Trot.
So in conclusion, I do not want to see Trot on any other team. For as long as I myself have been a Sox fan, he's been on the team, so imagining a Nixonless Boston team is pretty disturbing. KEEP TROT.
Trot stuff: His top 7 moments, and him talking about the possible end.
