Don't Rule it Out Yet, Men

Brian Cashman and Joe Torre are effectively murdering my dream of an A-Rod/Manny trade, but anything is possible and it's a long offseason. If we have to lose Ramirez (and I'd rather not), I want someone good in return. Other possibilities:
Torii Hunter is a name that gets mentioned a lot, but the Twins just picked up his 2007 option. I'd like Jermaine Dye, but I don't think Chicago wants to part with him. Travis Hafner is a young(er) guy with a lot of power, but he's a DH. I think all our problems would be solved if we got Vlad Guerrero in return for Manny! And a few other players, because Manny is better than Vlad.

I'm not sure if finding another slugger or getting reliable pitching is the more pressing matter at this point. If Manny does indeed leave, then it's imperative that someone bat behind Ortiz, but.. pitching beats offense. The bullpen has been a problem all year, and I just hope Theo doesn't have to trade some hitters in order to build up a good bullpen.

Detroit won last night, and they will continue to win until they reach the Mets in the World Series. There they will lose, but it'll go 6 or 7 games and they'll put up a good fight.
