A Deal is Close

"We're continuing to negotiate with a couple of free agents, and they're at different stages of the process," said Epstein. "We may have something done with one free agent before the Winter Meetings. I know we plan to continue talking with another free agent at the Winter Meetings."

The two free agents the Sox have been most linked to this winter are Drew and shortstop Julio Lugo.

So basically, prepare yourself because news is coming!

Also, Luis Alicea will be the first-base coach for the Red Sox in 2007.
