Who is this Free Agent?
(EDIT: Hanley Ramirez is the NL Rookie of the Year. I write this with extreme bitterness, as he should still be on our team!
UPDATE: Sources say the Red Sox bid $42 million for Matsuzaka. More concrete info coming tonight!)
"Red Sox GM Theo Epstein said he made an offer to a free agent, but would not disclose who it was." Interesting. I wonder who the Mystery Free Agent is.
We should solve one mystery tonight: The Seibu Lions' board of directors will meet tonight, then hold a press conference at 8 pm Eastern. Hopefully, we'll find out that the Red Sox now have the right to negotiate a deal with Matsuzaka.
I'm also wondering if the Sox bid on third baseman Akinori Iwamura. We will probably find that out on Friday.
