The First Game of the 2007 Season
...started off great with a David Ortiz RBI double. As usual, Ortiz didn't need any time to get going.
Schilling, on the other hand....whoa. Did not bring his A-game. Maybe his D-game, and that's being nice. By the time he was done, it was 5-1, not in our favor, and I was depressed. Javier Lopez impressed me more. That poor Okajima: his very first Major League pitch, and it goes out of the park. Just nerves, I hope. And Pineiro wasn't too good either, which brings us back to really bad pitching as our major problem.
There were highlights: a sweet double play courtesy of Lopez that went Lugo-Pedroia-Youkilis; an almost comeback in the 8th (even though it ended with a Papi K); I got a good laugh at Youkilis' beard thing; and oh yeah, baseball is back on!
So it wasn't the best start I could have imagined, but I have to be happy, because even bad baseball is better than no baseball...right?
