Why would the NY Post be saying this?

"Jonathan Papelbon may be closing for the Yankees sooner than you think."

Their evidence?

Papelbon said last June if he doesn't reach terms with the Red Sox next year that he would go anywhere. Of course someone asked him if that includes NY, and he said sure. He added that it is unreasonable to assume you'll stay with a team your whole career so you have to be open to anything.

And now, because Daniel Bard has decided he wants to be the closer, that means....OBVIOUSLY, that means Papelbon is not going to be in a Boston uniform after 2011 and Bard wins the job!

Uhh.....

Am I the only one a little confused on how a) Bard automatically gets the job; b) Papelbon won't reach an agreement with Boston; and c) why Jon is now going to the Yankees over all other (good) teams?
