2 things

A) I do not like the Tavarez decision.

B) That home plate umpire is crazy for calling Ortiz out when all the man did was get out of the way of a ball that was coming at his head. Ridiculous. Then Manny swung at ball 4 so there were 2 out in the 9th when there should have been 2 on, no outs. Bad luck.

Though Ortiz (intentionally?) not knowing he was thrown out and hanging out in the dugout was quite funny. I was in the middle of saying how awesome he was for not leaving after the umpire threw him out when he got all upset and was pointing at Ortiz to leave. Ortiz' "What? Me?" look was wonderful :)

But bad call!!

Mostly Updates

4 wins in a row, including a sweep=the Red Sox we know and love. But Wakefield pitches tonight, so I'm prepared for a loss. Hoping for a win, but prepared for a loss.

Updates:

What's the latest on Curt Schilling? Any tentative dates? Last I heard, it will be after the All-Star break. Thanks.
-- Ed K., Westerly, R.I.

Best-case scenario is that Schilling would pitch in July or August. But there are many hurdles for Schilling to leap before that becomes a reality. The positive news is that Schilling has done very well in the strengthening and rehab portion of things.

Has Buchholz guaranteed himself a spot in the rotation after that impressive outing to sweep Texas, or are there other possibilities still?

-- Davis W., Marion, S.C.

As former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe so aptly said after losing his job to Tom Brady, there are no guarantees in professional sports. Sure, Buchholz has been brilliant of late. But he's also a young pitcher, and that makes him susceptible to inconsistency.

...Curt Schilling felt good after his throwing session on Tuesday afternoon before the Red Sox played the Tigers at Comerica Park, but not good enough for the injured starter to begin a throwing program.
