Look on the Bright Side

Boston lost really bad today, and the Yankees won by a lot, and Toronto will probably win tonight, and it's my last day of freedom before med school owns me for the next 4 years...but on the other hand, my favorite player Dustin Pedroia has a birthday today! So it all works out, right? I think so, too.

Really, there is not a lot of good news to share. Nadal went ahead and won the gold medal in tennis, which I do not like. Federer is supposed to be #1 and I am not such a big fan of change. I like things to stay the same, nice and easy and predictable. Unless we're talking about a certain '04 World Series, because that kind of change I'm cool with.

And can I just say WHAT to Elena Dementieva winning the gold in women's tennis? She is certainly not the best female tennis player, so I don't know how that happened. I like her and all, just seems...weird. Unexpected. There we go with that again...

Where's Waldo

So I've been a little MIA lately. I moved (back to school now!) and didn't have Internet access for a week. Which was horrendous, but now all is good.

I didn't get to comment on the whole Boston/Texas series as it was happening, which makes me sad. Because that was a pretty awesome series for us, what with the run scoring fiesta (not so much the almost losing thing). If only they could all be like that!

We get a game tonight at 7, and since Paul Byrd's start was rained out yesterday, tonight will be the first time we see him in Red Sox action. The good news is he threw a complete game in a 4-2 win against the Jays in his last start with the Indians a week ago. Let's hope he can re-create the goodness.

School starts on Monday, so I might be forced to continue my MIA ways for the foreseeable future. I will make every effort to keep posting, because one thing I refuse to lose is the Red Sox!!

I Have Accepted It

Okay, how much fun was Jason Bay's first AB yesterday with Boston?

(I've come to see the light with the Manny trade. Bay's performance yesterday helped.)

Everyone was cheering, signs were everywhere (how about that 'Thanks Manny but it's a new Bay' sign?!)....I wonder how Manny took that.

I will always miss Manny, but I guess this is just part of baseball. Like when Bronson Arroyo left, and Mark Bellhorn left, and way back when my former-favorite-Sox Shea Hillenbrand left. Whatever happened to him, by the way?

But anyway, the show must go on. I'm okay with it now. Manny wanted to go and we got a good young guy to take his place. A good young guy that will most likely be holding a nice trophy come October.

P.S. Looks like Youkilis and Bay have become fast friends! Loved Youk's reaction when Bay came home in the 12th.
